Empire State Dairy Company was founded in 1869. By the early-20th century, the company’s headquarters was located at 502 Broadway in Brooklyn.
In late 1916, the company announced that it had opened a new facility on Atlantic Avenue in East New York which, in addition to its headquarters.
In 1924, the company was acquired by the Borden Company in a litigious transaction that included the East New York plant. A year before that, Empire claimed to be the largest milk company in Brooklyn.
